Possible Causes
Clogged lint filter, Blocked exhaust vent, Excessively long or flexible vent run, Lint buildup in blower housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the dryer before disconnecting the vent or opening panels.
- Clean lint filter: Remove and clean the lint filter before every load. Wash with warm soapy water if coated with residue.
- Inspect vent hose: Pull the dryer away from the wall and check the vent hose for kinks or crushing. Remove and clean the hose thoroughly.
- Clean wall and exterior vent: Use a vent brush or vacuum to remove lint from the wall duct and exterior hood. Ensure the outside flap opens fully.
- Check internal ducts: Remove the front or rear panel and clean lint from the blower housing and internal ducts.
- Test with vent disconnected: Run a small load on timed dry with the vent temporarily disconnected (in a well-ventilated area). If drying improves, the house venting needs further cleaning or redesign.
