Possible Causes
Weak display backlight driver on the UI board, voltage drop in the low-voltage supply from the main board, loose low-voltage connector, overloaded auxiliary power supply.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: A dim display alone may not affect charging, but it indicates a developing power issue.
- Step 1 – Check for heat: Feel the charger housing. Excessive heat may indicate that the auxiliary power supply is overloaded.
- Step 2 – Inspect low-voltage wiring: With the power off, open the charger and reseat the low-voltage connectors between the main board and UI board.
- Step 3 – Measure low-voltage rails (advanced): A technician can measure 5 V/12 V rails under load to see if they sag during charging.
- Step 4 – Replace suspect module: If low-voltage rails are unstable, replace the BougeRV auxiliary power supply module. If the rails are stable but the display remains dim, replace the display / UI board.
