Electrify Home Reduced Output Current / Derating

Charging is very slow compared to the expected rate; no error codes are displayed.

Possible Causes

Charger current limit set too low in configuration, Undersized or derated supply circuit, High ambient temperature causing thermal derating, Load‑sharing or demand response limiting current.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Configuration changes can be made with power on; do not open live power sections.

  • Step 1 – Check settings: In the "Electrify Home" app or menu, verify that the maximum charging current is set appropriately for your circuit (e.g., 32 A on a 40 A breaker).
  • Step 2 – Verify circuit rating: Confirm that the breaker and wiring size support the desired current. The charger will automatically limit current to protect undersized circuits.
  • Step 3 – Look for active limits: Check if eco‑mode, demand response, or load‑sharing features are enabled and limiting current.
  • Step 4 – Ambient temperature: If the charger is in a hot location, improve ventilation or shade to reduce thermal derating.
  • Step 5 – Vehicle limits: Some vehicles limit current based on battery temperature or settings; verify vehicle charging settings as well.
