Possible Causes
Cumulative leakage from the charger and other loads, Moisture in the cable or handle, Internal filter capacitors leaking to ground, Shared neutral/ground issues in the panel.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ground fault devices trip for safety. Do not bypass or replace them with non‑GFCI breakers without consulting an electrician.
- Step 1 – Isolate the charger: Ensure the "Electrify Home" charger is on a dedicated circuit with no other loads.
- Step 2 – Dry components: Inspect the handle and cable for moisture and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Panel wiring check: Have an electrician verify that neutrals and grounds are correctly separated and that there are no shared neutrals causing imbalance.
- Step 4 – Test with standard breaker (if allowed): Some EVSEs include internal GFCI and must be on a non‑GFCI breaker. Follow Electrify Home’s installation instructions.
- Step 5 – Replace charger if necessary: If leakage remains high, internal components may be failing, and the charger should be replaced or repaired.
