Charger’s cable is difficult to insert or remove from the vehicle inlet
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Deformed J1772 connector housing, Bent latch mechanism, Debris in connector or vehicle inlet, Worn alignment key on EVgo handle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the connector; forcing can damage the vehicle inlet. Turn OFF power before detailed inspection.
- Inspect connector: Examine the EVgo J1772 handle for cracks, warping, or bent latch. Ensure the latch moves freely.
- Clean connector and inlet: Use a dry, soft brush to remove dust or debris from both the handle and vehicle inlet. Do not use lubricants.
- Check alignment: Align the connector straight with the inlet and insert firmly but without excessive force. If it still binds, stop.
If insertion/removal remains difficult, the EVgo connector assembly should be replaced to avoid damaging the vehicle inlet.
