Possible Causes
Incorrect or damaged PP resistor in Type 2 plug, Broken PP conductor in cable, Contaminated or bent PP pin, Faulty PP sensing circuit on go-e control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Ensure the charger is not actively charging before handling the connector.
- Inspect PP pin: Check the proximity pilot pin in the Type 2 connector for dirt, corrosion, or mechanical damage. Clean with contact cleaner.
- Test with another cable: If your go-e Charger has a socket, try a different Type 2 cable. If the error disappears, the original cable’s PP resistor or wiring is defective and the cable should be replaced.
- Check cable rating: Ensure the cable’s current rating matches or exceeds the charger’s configured current. Some chargers will limit or refuse charging if the PP coding is inconsistent.
- Measure PP resistance: Using a multimeter, measure between PP and PE in the plug (with cable disconnected from charger and car). Compare the value to standard coding (e.g., 220 Ω, 680 Ω). Replace the plug or cable if out of tolerance.
- Inspect control board: If multiple cables show the same error, the PP sensing circuit on the control board may be faulty and require board replacement.
