Possible Causes

Faulty communication between main control board and Wi‑Fi or metering module, Corrupted firmware, Loose low-voltage harness inside EVSE, Electrical noise or surge damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power at the breaker before opening the unit. Do not touch low-voltage boards when energized.

Steps:

  • 1. Power cycle: Turn the breaker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON. Many logic faults clear with a full power reset.
  • 2. Check app/firmware: If your Leviton charger supports firmware updates via app, check for and apply any available updates following Leviton’s instructions.
  • 3. Inspect internal harnesses (qualified person): With power OFF and cover removed, verify that all low-voltage ribbon cables and harness connectors between the main control board and any communication/metering modules are fully seated.
  • 4. Surge history: If E08 appeared after a lightning storm or known surge, internal communication ICs may be damaged. Visual signs include burnt spots or bulging components.
  • 5. Module replacement: If harnesses are secure and firmware is current but E08 persists, the communication module or main control board may need replacement. Follow Leviton service documentation for the specific model.
