Mechanical Latch / Proximity Detection Issue
Vehicle will not lock or reports that the charging cable is still connected even after unplugging from Zappi
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Sticking mechanical latch in Type 2 socket, Deformed plug latch on cable, Contaminated or worn PP/CP pins, Vehicle inlet microswitch issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the plug; you may damage the socket or cable.
- 1. Inspect plug latch: Check the mechanical latch on the Type 2 plug for damage or debris. Clean and lubricate lightly with a plastic-safe lubricant if needed.
- 2. Check socket latch (if applicable): Some Zappi models have a locking mechanism in the socket. Ensure it retracts fully when unlocking.
- 3. Clean contacts: Gently clean the plug pins with a dry cloth to remove dirt or oxidation.
- 4. Test with another cable: If the issue disappears with a different cable, replace the original cable.
- 5. Vehicle side check: If multiple chargers show the same symptom with your vehicle, the vehicle’s inlet latch or microswitch may be faulty and require dealer service.
