Possible Causes
Loose LCD ribbon cable, damaged LCD module, incorrect contrast or backlight settings, faulty LCD driver on the main board.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the enclosure.
- Step 1 – Check backlight: In a dark room, look for any faint glow from the LCD. If the backlight is on but no text is visible, the data lines may be disconnected.
- Step 2 – Reseat cable: Open the enclosure and carefully reseat the LCD ribbon or header connector on both the LCD and the main board.
- Step 3 – Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the LCD glass or burn marks on the module. Replace the LCD if physically damaged.
- Step 4 – Test via Wi-Fi: If the EVSE operates normally via the web interface, the main board is likely fine, and only the LCD or its connection needs replacement.
- Step 5 – Replace LCD or board: If reseating does not help, replace the LCD module. If a new LCD still fails, the LCD driver on the main board may be defective; replace the main board.
