Possible Causes
Incorrect SSID/password, weak Wi-Fi signal at the EVSE location, corrupted Wi-Fi firmware, failed ESP module.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Network configuration changes are low risk, but power off the unit before physically handling the module.
- Step 1 – Check signal strength: Use a phone near the EVSE to verify Wi-Fi signal quality. If weak, move the router or add a Wi-Fi extender.
- Step 2 – Re-enter credentials: Connect to the EVSE's access point and reconfigure SSID and password carefully, ensuring correct case and spelling.
- Step 3 – Firmware update: Update the Wi-Fi module firmware via the web interface or USB/serial as recommended by OpenEVSE.
- Step 4 – Hardware reseat: With the power OFF, reseat the ESP module on its header. If still failing, replace the Wi-Fi module.
