Possible Causes
User-set current limit too low, Thermal derating due to high temperature, Undersized supply circuit, Load management limiting current
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Most checks can be done without opening the charger.
- Check user settings: In the Polestar app or charger menu, verify the maximum current setting. Increase it within the limits of your electrical installation if safe.
- Verify supply rating: Confirm the breaker and wiring size for the charger. The charger may automatically limit current to protect an undersized circuit.
- Improve cooling: Ensure the charger is not exposed to direct sunlight or enclosed in a tight cabinet. Improve airflow around the unit.
- Check load management: If connected to a home energy manager or multiple chargers, verify that load balancing settings are not intentionally limiting current.
