Possible Causes
Open-circuit defrost sensor, Failed defrost thermostat stuck open, Broken wiring between sensor and PCB, Connector not seated after previous service
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing panels.
Procedure:
- 1. Defrost access: Remove drawers and the rear internal panel to expose the evaporator and defrost components.
- 2. Locate defrost sensor/thermostat: Typically clipped to the top or side of the evaporator coil in AEG freezers.
- 3. Test continuity: At room temperature, many defrost thermostats will be closed (showing continuity). If open, it may be faulty. NTC sensors should show several kΩ.
- 4. Check wiring and plugs: Ensure all connectors are fully engaged and wires are not broken at stress points.
- 5. Replace faulty parts: Install a new AEG defrost thermostat or NTC sensor as per the original design.
After reassembly, allow the freezer to run through at least one defrost cycle to confirm that F2 does not reappear.
