Possible Causes

Compressor mounting rubbers worn or displaced, Condenser tubing touching cabinet and vibrating, Freezer not level causing vibration, Internal compressor wear

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before adjusting components at the rear.

Steps:

  • 1. Level the appliance: Use a spirit level and adjust the front feet so the freezer is stable and does not rock.
  • 2. Check rear tubing: Inspect the condenser coils and refrigerant lines at the back. Gently bend any tubes that are touching the cabinet or each other to create a small gap.
  • 3. Compressor mounts: Ensure the compressor is firmly held by its rubber mounts. If a mount is broken or missing, have it replaced to reduce vibration.
  • 4. Noise isolation: Place anti-vibration pads under the freezer feet if it is on a hard floor.
  • 5. Persistent loud knocking or grinding: This may indicate internal compressor damage; contact a technician for evaluation and possible compressor replacement.

Note: Some humming is normal, but sudden changes in noise level should be investigated.
