Avanti Normal Pressure Equalization / Door Vacuum

Freezer door is hard to open right after closing, or a vacuum sound is heard.

Possible Causes

Warm air entering and cooling rapidly, Creating negative pressure, Door gasket sealing tightly, Normal operation of Avanti freezer

Note: A temporary vacuum making the door hard to open for a few seconds to a minute after closing is normal.

Steps:

Wait briefly: Allow 30–60 seconds for internal pressure to equalize before reopening.
Check gasket: Ensure the gasket is not excessively sticky; clean with mild soap and water.
Verify venting: Some models have a small pressure equalization port; ensure it is not blocked by packaging or ice.
