Freezer interior has a persistent bad odour even after cleaning.

Possible Causes
Spilled food or blood in crevices, Contaminated defrost drain and tray, Mould growth on the door gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and remove all food before deep cleaning.
- Thorough cleaning: Wash all interior surfaces with a solution of warm water and bicarbonate of soda. Remove shelves, baskets, and any removable panels.
- Clean door gasket: Gently pull back the gasket folds and clean inside with mild detergent. Dry thoroughly to prevent mould.
- Flush defrost drain: Locate the interior drain hole (if fitted) and flush with warm water and a little disinfectant. Empty and clean the defrost drain tray above the compressor.
- Air out: Leave the door open for several hours with the freezer unplugged to allow odours to dissipate.
For severe contamination (e.g., after a long power failure with spoiled food), replacement of some plastic parts or the door gasket may be necessary.
