Possible Causes

Stuck keypad buttons, Damaged touch sensor on UI, Faulty keypad matrix on PCB, Contamination under buttons

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel.

  • Clean the keypad area: Wipe the Candy control panel with a slightly damp cloth to remove sticky residues that may cause buttons to stick. Do not allow liquid to enter the panel.
  • Check button operation: Press each button individually to feel for proper movement. A physically stuck button can cause E16.
  • Access UI board: Remove the control fascia and inspect the keypad contacts or touch sensors for contamination or corrosion.
  • Clean contacts: Use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to gently clean contact surfaces if accessible.
  • Replace UI board if needed: If the keypad matrix is damaged or non-responsive, install a new Candy-compatible user interface board.
  • Test lock function: Reassemble, power up, and verify that the control lock engages and disengages correctly without E16.

Warning: Avoid using aggressive cleaners or excessive moisture on the control panel.
