How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the control housing.
- 1. Locate the ambient sensor: On many Electrolux freezers, the ambient sensor is in the control panel area or behind the front grille, sensing room temperature.
- 2. Inspect the sensor and its mounting: Ensure the sensor is not touching hot components and is not covered by insulation or debris.
- 3. Test resistance: With the freezer unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare it to the NTC chart in the service manual. Replace if open, shorted, or out of specification.
- 4. Check the harness: Inspect and test continuity from the sensor to the main control board. Repair any breaks or corrosion.
- 5. Replace the control board if needed: If the sensor and wiring are good but E5 persists, replace the main control board.
