How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Wear gloves and, if sensitive, a mask when cleaning mold or spoiled food.
- Remove all contents: Discard any spoiled or questionable food items.
- Deep clean interior: Unplug the freezer. Wash all interior surfaces, shelves, and baskets with a solution of baking soda and warm water or a mild bleach solution (1 tbsp bleach per gallon of water). Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Clean gasket: Gently scrub the door gasket folds where mold can hide.
- Deodorize: Place an open box of baking soda or a commercial refrigerator deodorizer inside for several days.
- Prevent recurrence: Ensure good door sealing and avoid storing uncovered foods that can spill or leak.
