Damaged communication harness between display and main PCB, Oxidized connectors, Failed display PCB, Faulty main control PCB communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing any control boards.
- Inspect harness: Trace the multi-wire harness from the front display board to the main control PCB. Look for pinched, cut, or chewed wires (rodent damage).
- Reseat connectors: Unplug and firmly reconnect both ends of the harness. Use contact cleaner if corrosion is visible.
- Check display board: Remove the display PCB and inspect for cracked solder joints, burnt components, or moisture damage. Replace the display board if defects are found.
- Test with new display (if available): If you have access to a known-good display board, connect it temporarily to see if E8 clears. If not, suspect the main control PCB.
- Replace main PCB: If wiring and display are good, replace the main control PCB with the correct Haier part.
