Possible Causes

Open or shorted defrost NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from the evaporator, Harness damage from ice, Faulty main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer and wear gloves when working around sharp evaporator fins.

  • Access evaporator: Remove the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator coil.
  • Locate defrost sensor: Typically clipped to the evaporator tubing or housed in a small plastic casing.
  • Test sensor: Disconnect and measure its resistance at room temperature and again after cooling with ice. The resistance should change smoothly. Replace if readings are erratic or out of specifications.
  • Secure sensor: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil in the correct position.
  • Check wiring and board: Repair any damaged wires and reseat connectors. Replace the main PCB if F3 persists with a known-good sensor.
