Indesit Odour Contamination

Freezer interior has a strong, unpleasant, or mouldy odour.

Possible Causes

Spoiled food residues, Mould growth on seals and liners, Blocked drain harbouring bacteria, Long power outage with food thawing

Safety first: Unplug the freezer and wear gloves if cleaning spoiled food.

Steps:

Remove all food and discard any spoiled items.
Clean all internal surfaces, shelves, and drawers with a solution of warm water and bicarbonate of soda or mild detergent.
Clean the door gasket folds thoroughly.
Flush the defrost drain with warm water and a small amount of disinfectant, then rinse.
Leave the door open for several hours to air out before restocking.
