E8
Logik High Temperature / Overload Protection Fault

Freezer displays E8 and may run continuously without reaching the set temperature; the compressor is hot to the touch.

Possible Causes

Blocked condenser coils, failed condenser fan (if fitted), poor ventilation around freezer, weak compressor or internal mechanical failure.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning or working near the compressor and condenser. Allow hot components to cool.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the freezer (typically at least 5–10 cm at sides and rear). Do not push the unit tightly against the wall.
  • Clean condenser coils: Access the rear or bottom of the freezer and locate the condenser coils. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint. This is critical for Logik freezers with rear or bottom-mounted condensers.
  • Inspect condenser fan (if present): Some upright Logik freezers have a condenser fan near the compressor. Confirm it spins freely and runs when the compressor is on. Replace the condenser fan motor if seized or not running.
  • Check ambient temperature: Ensure the freezer is not installed in a very hot or unventilated room, which can trigger over-temperature faults.
  • Power reset: After cleaning and improving ventilation, unplug for 10 minutes, then reconnect. Monitor whether E8 clears and the temperature drops over several hours.

When to call a technician: If E8 persists despite good airflow and clean coils, the compressor may be weak or the sealed system may be compromised. These issues require professional diagnosis and repair.
