Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical thermostat contacts, Misreading cabinet temperature sensor, Stuck compressor relay on main board, Incorrect control calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the controls.
Steps:
- Adjust temperature: Raise the temperature setting by one or two steps and monitor for 24 hours.
- Check for continuous running: Listen to determine if the compressor runs almost continuously. Continuous running with a very low temperature indicates a control issue.
- Test thermostat (mechanical): Follow the F3 steps to test and replace the thermostat if it does not cycle off.
- Test sensor (electronic): Follow the E1 steps to test the cabinet NTC sensor. Replace if it is out of specification.
- Board replacement: If the thermostat/sensor are good but the compressor never cycles off, the main control board relay may be stuck and require replacement.
