Possible Causes

Internal failure of main control PCB, Burnt relay contacts, Damaged power supply section on PCB, Corrupted control firmware

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect mains power before accessing the control module.

Steps:

  • 1. Power cycle: Unplug the freezer for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect. If F6 reappears immediately, suspect the control board.
  • 2. Check for other symptoms: Note if the display is dim, unresponsive, or if relays click erratically. These signs support a PCB fault.
  • 3. Access control board: On many Miele freezers, the ELU is located in a compartment at the top or rear. Remove the cover and carefully inspect the board.
  • 4. Visual inspection: Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or darkened areas. Check connectors for heat damage or loose pins.
  • 5. Reseat connectors: With power off, unplug and replug all harness connectors to ensure good contact.
  • 6. Replace control board: If visible damage is present or F6 persists after reseating, replace the main control PCB with the exact Miele part number. Transfer any configuration jumpers as per service documentation.

Note: Board-level repair (component replacement) is not recommended for non-professionals due to mains voltage and complexity.
