Possible Causes
Stuck or broken door switch, a misaligned door causing the switch not to actuate, damaged door switch wiring, or a faulty input on the main control PCB.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the door switch or control fascia.
- Locate door switch: On Montpellier upright freezers, the door switch is usually in the cabinet frame near the top or side, or integrated into the control fascia.
- Check operation: Press the switch plunger by hand. You should hear a distinct click and see the interior light turn on/off (when powered). If it feels loose or does not click, it may be faulty.
- Inspect door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and lines up with the switch. Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging and not depressing the switch fully.
- Test switch continuity: Remove the switch from the cabinet, disconnect wires, and test with a multimeter. It should show continuity in one position and open in the other. Replace if defective.
- Check wiring: Inspect the switch wires for damage where they pass into the cabinet. Repair any breaks and ensure good connections at the main PCB.
If E10 persists with a known-good switch and wiring, the main control board door input circuit may be faulty and require replacement by a technician.
