Possible Causes

Loose compressor mounting bolts, Vibrating copper pipes touching cabinet, Noisy or failing compressor, Loose rear panel or base plate

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before adjusting components. Compressor and pipes may be hot.

  • Check levelling: Ensure the freezer is level using a spirit level. Adjust front feet so the cabinet is stable and does not rock.
  • Tighten mounts: Remove the rear panel and gently tighten compressor mounting bolts, leaving the rubber grommets slightly compressed but not crushed.
  • Isolate pipes: Look for copper pipes touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend them apart a few millimetres and insert foam or rubber spacers.
  • Secure panels: Tighten any loose screws on the rear panel or base tray that may rattle.

If the compressor itself is excessively loud or knocking, it may be failing internally. Consult a refrigeration engineer for assessment.
