Freezer beeps and shows an alarm symbol or 'AL'; internal temperature is too high and food may be soft or thawing.

Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit before removing any panels.

• Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructed by baskets or packaging.
• Inspect door gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Close a sheet of paper in the door at several points; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak.
• Verify ventilation: Make sure there is adequate space around the freezer (especially at the rear and sides) and that vents are not blocked by dust or objects.
• Listen for compressor and fans: When powered, you should hear the compressor and, on no-frost models, the condenser fan. If silent, investigate compressor start components and fan motor.
• Allow recovery time: After adding a large load or after a power cut, it can take several hours to reach set temperature. Keep the door closed as much as possible.
• If temperature does not drop: After 6–12 hours, if the alarm persists and the compressor runs continuously with poor cooling, there may be a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary). This requires a certified refrigeration technician.

Test: Once the cause is corrected, the alarm will usually clear automatically when the temperature falls below the alarm threshold.
