Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Cracked drain pan, Excessive door openings causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing panels. Use towels to catch water.
Steps:
- 1. Locate drain: Inside the freezer, remove the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough at the bottom.
- 2. Clear drain hole: Use a soft plastic probe or pipe cleaner to gently clear the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal tools.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain until it flows freely into the drain pan under the unit.
- 4. Inspect drain pan: From the rear, check the plastic drain pan above the compressor for cracks or misalignment. Replace if damaged.
- 5. Reduce condensation: Ensure the door gasket seals properly and avoid leaving the door open for extended periods.
