Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed switch, weak or missing door magnet, misaligned door, damaged sensor wiring.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing door trim or switch assemblies.
Steps:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructed by food packages.
- Inspect door magnet: Some models use a magnet in the door and a reed switch in the frame. Verify the magnet is present and not loose.
- Test reed switch: Remove the frame trim to access the reed switch. With a magnet near the switch, test continuity with a multimeter. Replace if it does not change state.
- Adjust door alignment: If the door is sagging, adjust the hinges so the magnet lines up with the switch.
- Replace faulty parts: Install a new OEM Westinghouse reed switch or door magnet as needed.
