Possible Causes
Failed display PCB, damaged ribbon cable between the UI and main board, stuck or shorted keypad, moisture ingress into the control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel.
- Remove control fascia: On Zanussi upright freezers, the display is usually in the door or top front panel. Carefully unclip or unscrew the fascia to access the user interface board.
- Check for moisture: Look for condensation or water tracks. Dry gently with a lint-free cloth and allow the board to air dry fully.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Ensure the ribbon or harness between the UI and main PCB is not kinked, cut, or partially unplugged.
- Test buttons: Press each button with power reconnected (if safe and insulated) to see if any are stuck or cause the error. If a specific button is always active, the keypad may be shorted.
- Replace UI board: If the display is dead or erratic and wiring is intact, replace the display/user interface PCB. Transfer any seals or gaskets to prevent future moisture ingress.
After replacement, reprogram any temperature or alarm settings as needed.
