Dirty flame sensor rod, loose flame sensor wire, poor burner ground, incorrect replacement flame sensor not matched to the American Standard model.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before servicing.
- Clean flame sensor:
- Remove and polish the metal rod with a fine abrasive pad.
- Reinstall so it is fully in the flame.
- Check wiring and ground:
- Ensure the sensor wire is firmly connected and not damaged.
- Tighten burner rack screws to improve the ground.
