Boiler frequently locks out during very cold weather; the condensate pipe outside is icy.

Safety first: Turn off the boiler before working on the condensate pipe. Take care on icy surfaces.

Steps:

• Thaw pipe: Pour warm (not boiling) water along the length of the external condensate pipe to melt ice. Do not use open flames.
• Reset boiler: Once thawed, reset the Intergas boiler and check for normal operation.
• Prevent recurrence: Insulate the external condensate pipe and, if possible, increase its diameter and reduce external runs as per Intergas and local guidelines.
