Possible Causes
Burned-out bulbs, Corroded lamp sockets, Failed light relay on logic board, Non-compatible LED bulbs
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before changing bulbs to avoid shock. Use bulbs within the wattage rating on the opener.
- Replace bulbs: Install new Craftsman-approved bulbs (LED or incandescent) of the correct wattage. Avoid rough-service or high-heat bulbs.
- Inspect sockets: Look for corrosion or burned contacts in the lamp sockets. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and a small brush if needed.
- Test light function: Operate the door and see if the lights turn on and then off after the programmed delay (usually 4–1/2 minutes).
- Check light button: If your wall control has a LIGHT button, press it to toggle manual light control. Ensure it is not stuck in the ON position.
- Logic board relay: If lights never come on or never go off despite good bulbs and sockets, the light relay on the logic board may be stuck or failed. Replace the logic board if light control is important.
