Possible Causes
Carriage jammed in rail due to dent or debris, Door locked with manual lock, Motor starting but unable to overcome load
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the opener before attempting to free a jam.
- 1. Check manual locks: Ensure any slide locks or hasps on the door are fully disengaged.
- 2. Disconnect opener: Pull the emergency release and move the door by hand. If the door moves freely, the jam is in the rail or carriage.
- 3. Inspect rail: Look along the Sommer rail for dents, screws protruding into the channel, or foreign objects. Remove obstructions and gently straighten minor dents.
- 4. Move carriage manually: With power off, slide the carriage along the rail to feel for tight spots. If it binds severely, replace the motor carriage assembly.
