Teka Outlet / Drain Obstruction

Disposal runs, but water does not drain properly, and E06 appears on some Teka smart models, indicating a drain restriction.

Possible Causes

Blocked discharge outlet on Teka disposal, Clogged sink trap (P-trap), Food buildup in horizontal waste pipe, Incorrect installation height causing backflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF and lock out power to the disposal. Do not use chemical drain cleaners in conjunction with the disposal.

  • Step 1 – Check sink drain: Run water with the disposal OFF. If water stands in the sink, the blockage is downstream of the grinding chamber.
  • Step 2 – Remove and clean the P-trap: Place a bucket under the trap. Loosen the slip nuts and remove the trap. Clear any sludge or food buildup, then reassemble, ensuring gaskets are seated correctly.
  • Step 3 – Inspect the disposal outlet: Detach the discharge pipe from the Teka outlet spigot. Use a small brush or bottle brush to clean the outlet and baffle. Remove any hard debris.
  • Step 4 – Flush the line: With the trap removed, flush the horizontal pipe to the wall with hot water. A flexible drain brush or auger can help clear deeper obstructions.
  • Step 5 – Test and clear code: Reassemble the plumbing, restore power, run plenty of water, and operate the disposal. The E06 indication should clear once normal flow is restored.
