Possible Causes
Air trapped in pump volute after refill, Closed slice valve on suction or discharge, Impeller broken or detached from motor shaft
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before loosening any plumbing unions.
- Step 1 – Verify valves: Confirm that both suction and return slice valves for the affected pump are fully open.
- Step 2 – Bleed pump: Loosen the union on the pump discharge slightly until air escapes and water begins to drip, then retighten and restart the pump.
- Step 3 – Listen for cavitation: If the pump sounds like it is spinning freely but no water moves, the impeller may be broken. Remove the wet end and inspect the impeller; replace if damaged.
