Possible Causes

Biofilm buildup in the base reservoir, dirty or unchanged water for extended periods, contaminated tank interior, or infrequent cleaning of the UV chamber and water channels.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and empty all water before cleaning. Avoid inhaling cleaning fumes.

  • 1. Empty and rinse: Remove the tank and empty all water from the tank and base. Rinse both with warm water.
  • 2. Disinfect tank and base: Fill the tank with a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts warm water. Swirl and let it sit for 30 minutes. Pour some of this solution into the base reservoir as well. Use a soft brush to scrub accessible surfaces.
  • 3. Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the tank and base multiple times with clean water until all vinegar smell is gone.
  • 4. Drying: Allow components to air-dry with caps off before reassembly.
  • 5. Maintenance routine: Change water daily and perform a full clean at least weekly. If odor persists even after thorough cleaning, internal channels may be contaminated and require professional disassembly and cleaning.
