Possible Causes
Dead remote batteries, a dirty or blocked IR receiver window, a failed IR LED in the remote, or a faulty IR receiver module in the unit.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work should be done while the unit is plugged in.
- 1. Replace batteries: Install new, high-quality batteries in the remote, observing correct polarity.
- 2. Clean IR window: Wipe the IR receiver window on the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure there is no sticker or obstruction covering it.
- 3. Test range and angle: Stand within 2–3 meters (6–10 ft) and point the remote directly at the receiver. Avoid strong sunlight or bright lights shining directly on the receiver.
- 4. Camera test: Point the remote at a smartphone camera and press a button; you should see the IR LED flash on the screen. If not, the remote is faulty and should be replaced.
- 5. Receiver fault: If the remote is confirmed working but the unit does not respond, the IR receiver module inside the humidifier may be defective and require replacement.
