Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, obstructed fan blade, faulty fan capacitor (if used), loose wiring to the fan motor.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before servicing. Keep fingers clear of the fan blades.
Steps:
- Visual check: Turn the unit on briefly and observe through the grille (without touching). If the fan does not spin at all, proceed with further inspection.
- Access fan assembly: Remove the front and/or rear panels to expose the fan motor and blade.
- Check for obstructions: Look for plastic wrap, insulation, or debris jammed in the fan. Remove any obstructions.
- Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely. If it is stiff or grinding, the motor bearings may be seized.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated on the control board and that the wires are intact.
- Capacitor (if present): Some fan motors use a run capacitor. Inspect it for bulging or leaks and replace it if defective.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor is seized or receives power but does not run, replace it with a Frigidaire-compatible fan motor assembly.
