Possible Causes
Room temperature below operating range, faulty ambient temperature sensor reading too low, unit placed near a cold draft or on a cold floor, control board misinterpreting temperature.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: P3 often indicates the unit is protecting itself from operating in too cold an environment.
- Check room temperature: Use a thermometer to verify the room is above the minimum operating temperature (typically 41°F / 5°C). If not, move the unit to a warmer location.
- Avoid cold drafts: Do not place the dehumidifier directly on a cold concrete floor or near open windows in winter. Elevate it slightly and keep away from cold walls.
- Reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then plug back in and test in a warmer area.
- If P3 persists in a warm room: The ambient temperature sensor may be faulty or mispositioned. See the E1 entry for sensor testing and replacement steps.
