Dehumidifier shows E3 and will not start the compressor; fan may still operate.

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel or covers.

Steps:

• Power cycle: Unplug the unit for several minutes and restart it. If E3 returns, continue.
• Access control panel: Remove the top/control panel cover to expose the display PCB and its wiring harnesses.
• Locate humidity sensor: On many Sharp dehumidifiers, the humidity sensor is a small plastic module or PCB located near the air intake grille, connected by a multi-wire harness to the main or display PCB.
• Inspect sensor and wiring: Check for dust buildup, moisture damage, or broken wires. Clean light dust with dry compressed air; do not soak the sensor.
• Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the humidity sensor plug to ensure a solid connection.
• Functional check: If you have another identical Sharp unit, you can temporarily swap humidity sensors to confirm the fault. If the error follows the sensor, then the sensor is faulty.
• Replace sensor: Install a new humidity sensor module specified for your Sharp model. Mount it in the same location so that it samples room air correctly.
• PCB replacement: If a known-good sensor still results in E3, the main control PCB or display PCB humidity circuit is likely defective and should be replaced as an assembly.

Tip: Avoid spraying cleaners directly into the intake grille; chemicals can damage the humidity sensor.
