Possible Causes
Failed recirculation pump motor, blocked pump inlet, airlock in the pump, wiring issue to the pump
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before accessing the pump. Water may spill, so protect flooring.
- Access the circulation pump: Remove the front lower panel and internal covers to locate the water circulation pump near the reservoir.
- Check for blockages: Disconnect the inlet hose and inspect for debris, scale, or ice blocking the pump. Clean thoroughly.
- Bleed air: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the proper level to avoid airlocks. Tilt the unit slightly if needed to help purge air from the pump.
- Test the pump motor: With wiring disconnected, measure motor resistance. An open winding indicates a faulty pump. If safe and you are qualified, you can bench test the pump with 120 VAC.
- Inspect wiring: Verify that the harness from the control board to the pump is intact and that connectors are secure.
- Replace the pump: If the pump does not run or is noisy and weak, install a new OEM Amana circulation pump and reassemble.
