Possible Causes

Empty water reservoir, Stuck low-water float, Dirty or scaled low-water sensor, Faulty low-water switch or sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the unit before adding water to avoid splashing onto live components.

  • Refill reservoir: Remove the ice basket and fill the water reservoir up to the MAX line with clean, potable water. Avoid overfilling.
  • Reset the alarm: Close the lid and press the power or start button to clear the ADD indication.
  • Clean the float/sensor: If the ADD message remains with a full tank, unplug the unit, drain the reservoir, and clean the float or sensor area with warm water and mild detergent. Remove any scale or slime.
  • Check float movement: Ensure the float moves freely and is not waterlogged or cracked. Replace the float assembly if it does not rise properly.
  • Inspect wiring: Trace the low-water sensor wires to the PCB and reseat the connector. Replace the low-water sensor if it tests open regardless of water level.
