Possible Causes
Faulty magnetic door switch, misaligned door magnet, broken bin presence switch, damaged switch wiring.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing switches or control wiring.
Steps to check:
- Check door closure: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not obstructing the latch area. A partially open door will prevent operation.
- Locate the door switch: On many Grundig models, a small reed switch is mounted in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door. Verify the magnet is still in place and not loose.
- Test switch continuity: With the unit unplugged, remove the inner trim to access the switch. Use a multimeter to test continuity while opening and closing the door. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Check the bin switch: Some models have a bin-in-place switch. Remove the bin and inspect the switch lever or sensor. Make sure it is not broken or jammed with ice.
Note: After replacing a switch, secure all wiring away from moving parts and sharp edges.
