Possible Causes
Blocked ice full infrared sensor; Misaligned emitter and receiver pair; Failed ice full sensor board; Loose or damaged sensor wiring.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning or adjusting internal sensors.
Steps to address E7:
- 1. Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket and ensure nothing is blocking the sensor area.
- 2. Locate the ice full sensor: On many HOMCOM ice makers, an infrared emitter and receiver are mounted on opposite sides of the ice chute or above the basket. Identify both components.
- 3. Clean the sensor lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently wipe the sensor windows. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- 4. Check alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver face each other directly and are not loose. Tighten any mounting screws if needed.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the main PCB. Look for loose plugs or damaged cables. Reseat the connectors.
- 6. Test operation: With the unit reassembled and powered, start a cycle and observe whether the machine now runs without E7. You can wave your hand between the sensors to see if the unit responds as if the basket is full.
- 7. Replace the sensor module: If cleaning and alignment do not help, replace the HOMCOM ice full sensor assembly (emitter/receiver pair or combined board) according to your model’s parts list.
Warning: Do not bypass the ice full sensor permanently; this can cause overfilling and potential damage.
