Possible Causes
Residue from manufacturing in a new unit, stagnant water in the reservoir, mold or biofilm in the reservoir or hoses, or the use of unfiltered or heavily chlorinated water.
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before deep cleaning. Use only food-safe cleaners.
Steps:
- 1. Discard old ice: Throw away all existing ice and drain the reservoir.
- 2. Clean reservoir and basket: Wash with warm water and mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly.
- 3. Run cleaning cycle: Use a descaling/cleaning solution approved by Princess (or vinegar if allowed) and run a full cleaning program.
- 4. Rinse multiple times: After cleaning, run at least 2–3 full ice cycles with fresh water and discard the ice to flush any remaining taste.
- 5. Use better water: Use filtered, odor-free water for future ice making.
