Possible Causes
Blocked water pump inlet filter, Airlock in pump, Failed circulation pump motor, Loose or corroded pump connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and drain water before removing the pump or hoses.
- Step 1 – Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the proper level. Running dry can cause airlocks and pump damage.
- Step 2 – Inspect pump inlet: Remove the ice basket and top cover to access the water trough and pump area. Look for debris blocking the pump inlet screen.
- Step 3 – Clean filter and trough: Remove any visible debris. Use a soft brush and warm water with mild detergent to clean the trough and pump screen. Rinse thoroughly.
- Step 4 – Bleed air from pump: Refill the reservoir, then tilt the unit slightly backward and forward (while unplugged) to help release trapped air bubbles from the pump.
- Step 5 – Check pump wiring: Access the underside or rear panel to locate the pump. Ensure the electrical connector is secure and free of corrosion.
- Step 6 – Test pump operation: Plug in and start a cycle. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, it is likely failed.
- Step 7 – Replace pump: Disconnect power, remove the hose clamps, and swap in a new Pro Breeze circulation water pump. Ensure hose connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Step 8 – Reassemble and test: Refill with water, reassemble covers, and run several cycles to confirm E8 is cleared and water flows evenly over the evaporator.
