Russell Hobbs Harvest Failure – Ice Not Releasing

Ice cubes stick to the evaporator and do not drop into the basket

Possible Causes

Evaporator surface scaled or rough, Ice thickness too great, Water temperature too low, Faulty harvest timing or sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning the evaporator.

Steps to improve ice release:

  • Descale evaporator: Clean the evaporator fingers/plate thoroughly with a warm vinegar solution to remove mineral buildup. Rinse with clean water and dry.
  • Adjust ice size: If your model allows, select a smaller ice size so cubes are thinner and release more easily.
  • Use room-temperature water: Extremely cold inlet water can cause over-freezing and sticking. Fill with water at room temperature.
  • Check harvest cycle: Observe a full cycle. If the tray tilts or shovel moves but ice remains stuck, the surface condition is likely the issue. If the harvest mechanism does not move at all, inspect the tray drive motor or ice shovel motor.
