Ice maker produces very small or hollow ice bullets

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning internal parts.

Steps to improve ice size:

• Fill to correct level: Ensure the water reservoir is filled to the MAX mark. Low water can cause incomplete ice formation.
• Clean the water system: Remove the ice basket and inspect the water intake and pump area. Clean any visible debris or scale. Run a cleaning cycle if your model supports it, using a mixture of water and food-safe descaler or white vinegar (check manual).
• Descale the evaporator: Wipe the evaporator fingers/plate with a cloth soaked in warm vinegar solution to remove mineral deposits that insulate the metal and reduce freezing efficiency. Rinse thoroughly with clean water afterward.
• Check room temperature: Use the ice maker in a cool, well-ventilated room (ideally 10–32°C). High ambient temperatures reduce ice size.
• Verify fan and condenser cleanliness: Clean the rear condenser coil and ensure the fan is running properly to maintain good cooling performance.

If ice remains consistently small after cleaning and proper setup, the compressor or refrigerant charge may be weak, which requires professional diagnosis.
