Possible Causes

Incorrect cycle timing from main control board, Faulty temperature sensor not signaling harvest, Weak heating during harvest (if equipped), Ice shovel motor not running

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off and unplug the unit before removing ice buildup.

Steps:

  • Manual defrost: Leave the lid open and allow the ice to melt naturally. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice off the evaporator; this can puncture the refrigerant lines.
  • Check shovel motor: Once defrosted, start a cycle and observe whether the ice shovel moves during harvest. If not, test and replace the ice shovel motor.
  • Sensor check: A faulty evaporator sensor may not signal the board to switch from freeze to harvest. Test and replace the evaporator temperature sensor if readings are incorrect.
  • Control board: If motor and sensor are good but over-freezing continues, the main control board may be mis-timing the cycle and require replacement.
